We are happy to announce that Jennifer E. Thomson will join the Mitigation Marketing team in November 2016!
Jennifer has over 18 years of professional experience in the areas of environmental regulation, consulting and natural sciences. Most recently Jennifer served as Environmental Supervisor at the South Florida Water Management District. At SFWMD, Jennifer managed a variety of complex, regionally-significant environmental permitting and compliance projects, including the evaluation of numerous mitigation bank applications. She served as a SFWMD liaison to the Mitigation Bank Interagecy Review Team (MBIRT), which includes representatives from state and federal regulatory agencies. She also conducted inter-agency and staff training on the application of the Uniform Mitigation Assessment Method (UMAM), and is an active participant in state rule-making revisions to UMAM and the Mitigation Banking Rule.
Her training and experience include biology, botany, marine science, ecology, land management and project management. Her areas of expertise include Environmental Resource Permitting, Water Use Permitting, Wetland Jurisdictional Determinations, Project compliance, Mitigation Bank Permitting and wildlife surveys.
Jennifer is actively involved in State rule-making and revisions, including updates to UMAM, SWERP and the Mitigation Banking rule. In addition, she has organized training workshops for consultants and other regulatory staff on various topics including UMAM, permitting and wetland delineation.
She manages projects with complex issues that require a combination technical expertise and an in-depth knowledge of the regulatory process. She has an extensive and diverse list of project management experience including mitigation banks, land development and transportation projects, and post-permit compliance. She works with clients to develop projects that meet their objective in a timely and financially responsible manner.
Jennifer will oversee on-site restoration activities, manages federal and state permit compliance at our banks located throughout the state, and manages the marketing and sales of mitigation credits.
Jennifer has served as President and on the Board of the Central Florida Association of Environmental Professionals and served on the Orange County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board.
